Janez Potočnik is an economist and former European Commissioner for Science and Research and for Environment from Slovenia. During his terms he established the European Research Council and introduced the Circular Economy in the European policy approach.
Among other activities he was head of the negotiating team for accession of the Republic of Slovenia to the European Union and the minister responsible for European Affairs. He is Co-Chair of the International resource Panel hosted by UNEP, a chairman of The Forum for the Future of Agriculture and RISE foundation, Partner in SYSTEMIQ and the President of ThinkForest.
