The Club of Rome is participating in the high-level roundtable at the UN Summit of the Future 2024: No human equity and wellbeing on an unstable planet, no stable planet without human equity.

Convened by Earth4All, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Planetary Guardians, Future Earth, the Earth Commission, the Earth League, and the International Science Council, this event will address the essential linkages between planetary stability, inequality, justice, and human wellbeing.

Together with representatives of national governments and multilateral institutions, the participants will explore key questions:

How does humanity’s future on Earth depend on our ability to maintain a stable, resilient planet?
How is the fight against poverty and inequality our best chance for improving planetary stability?
How can we elevate greater ambition for transformative change to manage these interconnected risks?
In the context of the UN Summit of the Future, the roundtable aims to explore how best to elevate a new narrative on the imperative of simultaneous ambitious action on poverty, equality and planetary stability within key multilateral processes.

The roundtable will engage prominent thought leaders, sustainability and equality advocates and scientists including Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group, Xiye Bastida, founder Re-Earth Initiative and Planetary Guardian, Jayati Ghosh, member of The Club of Rome, Professor of Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and member of the Earth4All Transformational Economics Commission, and Peter Gluckman, President of the International Science Council.
